Many of the ski areas reach up to 1,400m to 2,400m altitude, where the snow cover is dependable. Lookouts with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains abound. The natural scenery is awe-inspiring, but does not appear as rugged as other high-lying regions. It provides ample room for a good mix of gentle and demanding runs, as well as groomed and ungroomed slopes. Open-terrain skiing has a long tradition in all of Vorarlberg‟s regions, especially on the Arlberg.
