As a counterpart to contemporary architecture, an independent, designoriented crafts scene has established itself in recent years in the Bregenzerwald whose manufactured objects are much sought after both in Austria and abroad
The new Werkraum Haus will be openend in July 2013 in Andelsbuch, Bregenzerwald
Some 100 innovation-driven craftspeople - from cabinet-makers to textile designers - have teamed up to form Werkraum Bregenzerwald. Werkraum is a joint platform which organises exhibitions, contests, lectures, and engages in research and development. The renowned Swiss architect Peter Zumthor is currently designing a Werkraum building for Andelsbuch. The ground-breaking ceremony has been scheduled for early 2011. Until the opening, selected craft objects are on show at the Werkraum Depot in Schwarzenberg.
