Per Kirkeby - Bricks: Sculpture and Architecture
Per Kirkeby (*1938 in Copenhagen) is internationally the most important representative of contemporary Scandinavian art. The exhibition will display the large-format preparatory drawings in ink and red chalk for Per Kirkeby’s brick sculptures along with small-scale sketches, sketchbooks, and photographs. Furthermore over a hundred of Per Kirkeby’s books will be on show which Kunsthaus Bregenz also received as a gift.
The women’s museum in Hittisau is the only one of its kind in Austria and makes artistic creation by women and their living environments visible in changing exhibitions. The museum is accommodated in a modern timber building in the village centre. For a long time, mountaineering was a male domain. The exhibition showcases pioneering female alpinists of the 19th and 20th centuries. At the same time, it directs attention to women who have always lived and worked in the mountains: high-alpine farming women, herdswomen, female poachers, smugglers and mountain guides.
For the period 1-30 September, the Montafon museums have composed a colourful programme of events and guided visits dealing with past and contemporary times, focusing on the regional architectural heritage and the cultural and natural landscape of the Montafon.
