The women’s museum in Hittisau is the only one of its kind in Austria and makes artistic creation by women and their living environments visible in changing exhibitions. The museum is accommodated in a modern timber building in the village centre. For a long time, mountaineering was a male domain. The exhibition showcases pioneering female alpinists of the 19th and 20th centuries. At the same time, it directs attention to women who have always lived and worked in the mountains: high-alpine farming women, herdswomen, female poachers, smugglers and mountain guides.
On weekends in August, artists from different nations play classics, jazz, baroque and authentic folk music at special venues such as churches, mountain restaurants and a reservoir.
In the Angelika-Kauffmann hall, with its lovely panoramic views into the surrounding nature, star-studded artists will perform chamber music, lieder evenings, piano recitals, readings and hold master courses.
From Lake Constance to Arlberg - 1.2 km swim - 93 km bike ride - 12 km run
The particular appeal of this triathlon is that it takes participants to every part of Vorarlberg. From Lake Constance up to the Arlberg and to Lech, the top ski destination in the Alps. A very special challenge – for the 1000 sportsmen and women who take part.
